Judging Cannes from a Zoom Call

Eran Nizri joined the Cannes jury from Israel and made every second count.

This year, Cannes Lions 2025 featured a familiar face but in an unfamiliar format. Eran Nizri, founder of LDRS Group, took part as a jury member in the festival’s final judging sessions. Not from the Riviera. From Zoom. From Israel. From within a different reality entirely.

While the world’s top creatives clinked glasses and debated the future of advertising under palm trees, Eran logged in remotely. A single screen among dozens. But his voice carried weight.

“At first, they were surprised,” Eran shares. “But then I realized — showing up, even virtually, matters more than ever.”

How did the judging process work?

Remote or not, the discussions were sharp, emotional, and full of nuance. Eran was there for every decision — from heated debates to final votes. And the Zoom box? It didn’t make him any less present.

How did others respond?

Supportively. With curiosity. Some even admitted it was humbling to see someone represent Israel in the middle of such turmoil — and still lead with clarity and conviction.

What did Eran take from it all?

Perspective. The realization that Israel’s voice in global creativity isn’t optional — it’s essential. Even when things at home are unstable, the global stage needs us. Wants us. Respects us.

“If I learned anything, it’s that distance doesn’t diminish impact. You just have to show up and say something worth hearing.”
